Let me tell you about Shirley Raines, the founder of Beauty2thestreetz! I have so much admiration for what this lady has done AND what she is currently doing!

Beauty2thestreetz is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, California. Shirley’s organization came about after she previously volunteered with an organization helping homeless. While volunteering she began receiving compliments on her hair color, beautiful makeup and long lashes. She then began to realize how important it was that these women feel beautiful and taken care of. Beauty2thestreetz was born and Shirley began to bring makeup, hair dye and lashes down to Skid Row to help bring a little love and confidence to the homeless!

If you’re not familiar, Skid row is an area in downtown LA county that is considered a “Tent City”. Thousands of homeless live in tents along the sidewalks and streets of Skid Row. When I moved to LA a year and a half ago I was completely shocked by the vast number of homeless. Maybe that was naive of me, or maybe I was simply unaware, but I couldn’t believe it.

In the past Shirley has been known to help provide showers, hot meals, make-up and more, but with the current pandemic she has had to reevaluate how she can help provide to her community. After watching an Instagram Live with Shirley and Brie Larson, Shirley mentions that when visiting Skid Row it was apparent that her community was not protected from the pandemic and was simply uninformed. Shirley is doing her best to provide an education around COVID-19 and the ways that her community can protect themselves.

I believe it is so important to help our friends who are homeless, not just in LA but across the country, across the globe. I am so very thankful for the amazing work that Shirley is doing and look forward to one day volunteering with her!

Until I am able to help in person, I want to create a fundraiser that will help give back to those who need it! Instead of doing a special promotion for my 30TH BIRTHDAY I will be giving 30% of all sales May 6th - May 8th as a donation to Beauty2theStreetz!
